Serious disturbances broke out in Jerusalem overnight near a large Simchas Beis Hashoeva and hilula for Rav Nachman of Breslov being held at the Chut Shel Chessed institutions on Shmuel HaNavi Street.

The disturbances began at approximately 3:00 a.m. near Chaim Bar-Lev Boulevard and Zaks Street, as crowds gathered in the area surrounding the event. כיכר השבת

According to police, dozens of people blocked the light-rail tracks and other traffic in the area, while stones and other objects were thrown toward police officers.

Police ordered the crowd to disperse and subsequently deployed a water cannon and stun grenades as officers and Border Police worked to clear the area. כיכר השבת

Five suspects were initially arrested during the disturbances. In a subsequent police update, authorities said the number of arrests had risen to 11 as the unrest spread to additional areas of Jerusalem. חדשות חרדים

A Border Police officer suffered a light injury after being struck in the head by a bottle, according to police, while municipal vehicles were also damaged during the unrest. One municipal vehicle was reportedly taken and later abandoned. חדשות חרדים

The disturbances occurred as large crowds were participating in the annual Chol Hamoed gathering at Chut Shel Chessed, which included a Simchas Beis Hashoeva and the hilula of Rav Nachman of Breslov.
