The attack landed on the final day of Russia's parliamentary elections, a timing Moscow's mayor called no coincidence, accusing Kyiv of trying to disrupt the vote. Ukraine has not confirmed that the election was a target, but the scale of the assault, hitting deep inside Russian territory and striking one of the region's most important fuel suppliers, shows just how far Kyiv's long-range strike capability has come.
