Israel’s Supreme Court on Tuesday temporarily halted an order requiring the evacuation of property at Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, just one day before the eviction was scheduled to take place.

Justice Ofer Grosskopf issued the temporary order on September 29 following a request to stay enforcement while the case continues before the court.

An earlier District Court decision had set September 30 as the deadline to vacate the property. The Supreme Court’s new order prevents the evacuation and temporarily freezes the related monetary payments until a further decision is issued.

The court instructed the respondents to submit their response to the request by October 8.

The latest ruling comes amid the long-running legal proceedings surrounding control and use of property on the Ponevezh Yeshiva campus.
