President Donald Trump issued a direct and unmistakable warning to Hamas, signaling that failure to disarm under the terms of a U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire would trigger severe consequences. Speaking with characteristic clarity, President Trump stated, “It’ll be horrible for them — horrible, really, really bad for them [if they don’t disarm]. I don’t want that to happen, but they made an agreement that they’re going to disarm.”

The statement underscores the Trump Administration’s firm stance that negotiated commitments must be honored and that violations will not be ignored. According to senior officials, the ceasefire framework includes Hamas’s full disarmament and the release of remaining hostages, measures viewed as essential for lasting stability in the region. President Trump emphasized that enforcement mechanisms are backed by broad international support, reducing the need for direct Israeli military involvement while maintaining Israel’s security interests.

The warning follows President Trump’s December 29, 2025, meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where both leaders discussed advancing the second phase of the ceasefire. Central to those talks were the dismantling of Hamas’s military capabilities and the safe return of hostages, objectives aligned with Israel’s right to self-defense and regional security.

Reports indicate that up to 59 countries are backing the broader peace effort, signaling a rare level of international alignment behind the U.S.-led initiative. Administration officials view this coalition as a deterrent against noncompliance and a signal that the global community expects Hamas to meet its obligations.

President Trump’s remarks reflect a strategy that pairs diplomacy with credible consequences. By making clear that violations will carry a high cost, the Administration aims to prevent further escalation, protect Israeli civilians, and move the region toward a durable peace grounded in accountability and enforcement.
