Kiryas Joel: New Schedule Announced for Kvittlach to the Satmar Rebbe Ahead of the Yomim Noraim

As Chodesh Elul and the Yemei Haselichos approach, Satmar Chassidim in Kiryas Joel are preparing for the annual minhag of going in to the Rebbe to give a kvittel.

Due to the massive crowds and the long hours of waiting typically experienced during this time of year, the kehillah has released a notice outlining a new, streamlined system to make the process much easier for the tzibbur.

The new schedule, which went into effect yesterday, Sunday, is divided into two tracks. First, there is a "fast track" available every evening from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This hour is designated exclusively for fathers bringing their children to hand in a kvittel and receive a bracha, without asking private shailos or having lengthy conversations, allowing the line to move very quickly.

Second, for those who require a private audience and more time—such as families, individuals seeking an eitzah, or members of 'Ahavas Kedumim'—designated hours will be held later in the evening, between 8:00 PM and 10:30 PM.

The kehillah is also urging the tzibbur to take advantage of the opportunity to go in during the early days of Chodesh Elul, in order to avoid the heavy congestion and long wait times that inevitably occur when people wait until the Yemei Haselichos.
