Authorities released new police surveillance footage as the manhunt continued for the suspect behind a deadly shooting at Brown University that left two students dead and at least nine others injured, triggering widespread lockdowns across Providence and renewed concerns about campus security nationwide.

The shooting occurred Saturday, December 14, 2025, when a gunman opened fire inside a classroom at the Ivy League university. Panic quickly spread as students barricaded themselves inside campus buildings for hours while hundreds of local, state, and federal law enforcement officers flooded the area in search of the suspect.

Despite the rapid response, the gunman managed to flee before police arrived and remained undetected for days. Newly released footage combines five Providence Police surveillance videos into a single clip, offering the clearest look yet at the suspect’s movements shortly before the attack. The video shows a stocky man wearing dark clothing and a hat walking purposefully across campus paths and near academic buildings.

Authorities say the consistent appearance, clothing, and body build across multiple camera angles strongly indicate the footage captures the same individual. Investigators believe the suspect was moving deliberately through the campus moments before the shooting began.

The release of the footage comes four days into an intensive manhunt involving local police, state authorities, and the FBI. Federal officials announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s arrest, urging anyone with knowledge of the individual’s identity or whereabouts to come forward.

University officials confirmed that campus security protocols were activated immediately following the shooting, with classes suspended and counseling services made available to students and staff. Parts of the city surrounding the university were also placed on temporary lockdown as a precaution.

As investigators continue to analyze evidence and pursue leads, the case has intensified national debate over public safety, law enforcement response, and the growing challenge of securing open university campuses against violent threats.
