Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the National Energy Dominance Council Doug Burgum has emphasized the need for strong law enforcement to maintain America’s image and security.

“This is not a partisan issue,” Burgum said. “This is the place where we showcase America — and we can’t showcase America in a place where the police are not allowed to enforce the law.”

Burgum’s remarks come amid ongoing debates about public safety, law enforcement authority, and the federal government’s role in securing major public spaces and events. Supporters see his comments as a call for balanced but firm policing, while critics warn against potential overreach.

As part of his role, Burgum oversees initiatives aimed at promoting U.S. energy leadership and managing federal lands — many of which serve as key national landmarks and tourist destinations.
