Hundreds of demonstrators gathered near Bnei Brak on Thursday afternoon, October 29, blocking Highway 4 in a protest organized by the Peleg Yerushalmi community following the arrest of a yeshiva bochur in Yerushalayim.
The demonstration took place near Geha Junction, where protesters gathered to express opposition to the ongoing arrests of yeshiva students over military-service issues. The protest caused significant traffic disruptions along one of the busiest highways in central Eretz Yisrael.
According to reports, the demonstration followed the arrest last week of a bochur from Yeshivas Tiferes Shraga in Yerushalayim's Beit Vagan neighborhood. The arrest prompted renewed protests among members of Peleg Yerushalmi, who have strongly opposed the detention of yeshiva students over enlistment matters.
Police closed Highway 4 in both directions between the Aluf Sadeh and Em HaMoshavot interchanges, diverting motorists onto alternative routes. Additional disruptions were reported along Jabotinsky Street, a major thoroughfare connecting Bnei Brak with surrounding communities.
Police officers were deployed throughout the area to direct traffic and maintain public order as demonstrators occupied sections of the roadway.
The protest was part of continuing demonstrations surrounding the arrests of yeshiva bochurim, an issue that has led to repeated gatherings and highway closures in recent weeks.
Police subsequently announced that the affected roads had reopened to traffic.
