MOLDOVA — Jewish music star Lipa Schmeltzer arrived in Moldova on his way to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, encountering heavy rain as he continued the journey toward Ukraine.

New footage shared Thursday shows Schmeltzer outside in Moldova amid a downpour as he makes his way toward Uman, where tens of thousands of Yidden are gathering for the annual Rosh Hashanah kibbutz.

The trip comes shortly after Schmeltzer released his latest Rosh Hashanah project, “Lipa’s Tekiyos,” a 12-track album released on September 2 featuring material connected to the tefillos and atmosphere of the Yamim Noraim.

Schmeltzer also has a longstanding connection to Breslov and Uman, having previously released music inspired by the annual journey to Reb Nachman’s tziyun.

His arrival comes as travelers continue passing through Moldova, one of the primary gateways being used by those traveling overland to Uman ahead of Rosh Hashanah.
