What started as a routine Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv turned into a full-blown emergency over northwest Saudi Arabia, according to CNN and multiple other outlets. The airline confirmed the aircraft experienced an incident during the flight, and Reuters reported that an Israeli official described a violent altercation between the pilot and co-pilot, with passengers reportedly witnessing blood inside the cabin. Flight-tracking data showed the plane dropping sharply from 34,000 feet to roughly 16,600 feet in about two minutes as the confrontation unfolded. The transponder first broadcast code 7700, signaling a general emergency, before switching minutes later to code 7500, the internationally recognized signal for unlawful interference or a possible hijacking, then reverting back to 7700 as the situation stabilized.
The jet ultimately landed safely at Tabuk Airport around 10 a.m., and Flydubai confirmed all passengers were safe, saying its teams were working closely with authorities and would share updates as details are confirmed. Saudi security forces reportedly surrounded the aircraft immediately after landing as a safety precaution while the investigation got underway. Unconfirmed reports have suggested the two pilots were of different nationalities and that tension between them may have played a role, though Flydubai has not addressed the pilots' identities or the cause of the altercation. With the incident having unfolded only hours ago, officials say a full and detailed account is still pending, and a video reportedly filmed by a passenger inside the cabin, showing someone with visible blood, has only intensified public attention on the case.
