UKRAINIAN SOLDIER: Downs Russian Attack Drone at Point-Blank Range with Machine Gun

A Ukrainian soldier has been captured on video destroying a Russian attack drone at extremely close range using an MG 3 machine gun. The soldier opened fire as the drone approached at low altitude, striking it with a sustained burst that brought the aircraft down almost immediately. The engagement occurred at point-blank distance, leaving little room for error or second chances. The footage highlights both the threat posed by low-flying attack drones and the rapid reaction required to stop them.

The MG 3, a reliable and high-rate-of-fire machine gun, proved effective in the tight engagement. As the Russian drone closed in, the Ukrainian fighter kept the weapon trained on the target and delivered a decisive stream of rounds. The drone was knocked out of the air within seconds of the first hits. Such close-range encounters have become more common as both sides rely heavily on unmanned systems for reconnaissance and strike missions.

The incident underscores the constant danger Ukrainian forces face from Russian drones operating near the front lines. Attack drones can appear suddenly and at low altitude, forcing soldiers to respond with whatever weapons they have on hand. In this case, the quick decision to engage with the MG 3 prevented the drone from completing its mission. The successful shoot-down demonstrates the skill and composure required in these high-stakes moments.

Videos of this kind continue to circulate as evidence of the intense, fast-moving nature of the conflict. The Ukrainian soldier’s actions show how individual initiative and accurate fire can still decide the outcome against modern unmanned threats. While drones have changed the battlefield, determined troops with effective weapons remain capable of neutralizing them—even at the closest possible range.
