Newly emerged footage from northeast Tehran captures intense overnight gunfire during anti-regime protests, offering a stark glimpse into the escalating confrontation between Iranian security forces and civilians. The videos show rapid bursts of gunfire echoing through residential streets, with flashes illuminating apartment buildings and parked vehicles, creating scenes more reminiscent of urban combat than crowd control.

In the footage, heavy automatic fire can be heard as residents shout in fear and confusion, underscoring the proximity of the violence to civilian homes. Security forces appear to be firing directly through populated neighborhoods, a tactic that aligns with multiple reports of live ammunition being used to suppress demonstrations across the capital.

These scenes are part of a broader nationwide uprising that has gripped Iran since late December 2025. The unrest was sparked by severe economic collapse, persistent repression, and growing public anger toward the ruling regime. What began as localized protests has rapidly expanded into sustained demonstrations across major cities, with Tehran at the center of the confrontation.

Activist networks estimate that more than 600 people have been killed and approximately 12,000 injured as security forces respond with overwhelming force. While these figures are difficult to independently verify, Iran’s repeated internet blackouts have severely limited the flow of information, making eyewitness footage one of the few windows into conditions on the ground.

The use of heavy gunfire in residential areas marks a significant escalation and highlights the regime’s reliance on fear and brute force to retain control. Rather than restoring order, the images suggest a government increasingly treating its own population as an enemy force.

As the uprising continues, the footage from Tehran is fueling international concern and reinforcing calls for accountability, while also serving as a grim testament to the risks faced by ordinary Iranians demanding change.
