Nearly 200 Rabbanim and Dayanim Gather for Merkaz Horaah’s ‘Kinus HaRabbanim’

New York — The strength of Torah and Horaah within the Chareidi community was on full display last week at a massive "Kinus HaRabbanim." Organized by the renowned Merkaz Horaah, the event brought together nearly 200 Rabbanim and Morei Horaah to delve into complex halachic topics under the guidance of leading poskim.

Merkaz Horaah was founded several years ago by HaGaon Rav Shaul Yechezkel Schwartz Shlit"a, Dayan of Beis Medrash Lev Aharon (Satmar) in Boro Park and Rosh Beis Horaah of Debrecen. Rav Schwartz is widely recognized as a premier authority in halacha, guiding Dayanim and Morei Horaah with the clear mesorah of psak he received from his grandfather, the renowned Debrecener Rav, HaGaon Rav Moshe Stern Z"L, author of the Be'er Moshe.

Over time, the Dayan’s home became a central address for Talmidei Chachamim seeking practical guidance in halacha. Encouraged by Gedolei Yisroel, Rav Schwartz officially established Merkaz Horaah to train both new and experienced Dayanim with absolute clarity in the halachic process. To date, the program has produced over 300 expert Dayanim who currently serve in kehillos across New York, New Jersey, and around the world.

The recent Kinus HaRabbanim took place at the Armon Plaza complex, drawing a large crowd of the Dayan’s prominent talmidim and alumni of the program. The attendees spent the entire day immersed in shiurim covering intricate and weighty halachic matters.

The day began with a comprehensive shiur delivered by Rav Schwartz on the halachos of a choleh (sick person) on Yom Kippur. The program also featured a presentation by Dr. Chudnow, a world-renowned medical expert who specializes in assisting couples struggling with infertility. This was followed by an address from noted medical askan Reb Hersh Elimelech Pepercorn Shlit"a, one of the heads of Bonei Olam in Montreal.

Following a brief intermission, a special Maamad Hachtarah was held, during which Rav Schwartz conferred the Nezer HaHoraah upon a distinguished group of 20 newly ordained Morei Horaah. The shiurim then resumed, highlighted by a lengthy and in-depth shiur from HaGaon Rav Chaim Aharon Ungar Shlit"a, Dayan of Beis Medrash Lev Aharon (Satmar) in Williamsburg and one of the most prominent Dayanim in the community.

After nearly 12 hours of intensive learning and discussion under one roof, the Dayanim returned to their respective kehillos. They left fully equipped with vital halachic knowledge and practical guidance that will directly benefit Klal Yisroel as they continue to answer shailos and serve their communities.
