Thousands of Yidden from around the world gathered in Pressburg (Bratislava, Slovakia) to commemorate the 187th yahrtzeit of the Chasam Sofer, zy"a, on 25 Tishrei, with a historic Hachnasas Sefer Torah highlighting the large gathering.
Among those who traveled to Pressburg were numerous descendants of the Chasam Sofer, along with talmidim and Yidden who came to daven at his kever and honor his enduring Torah legacy.
The annual hilula was organized by the Chasam Sofer Center, operating under the auspices of Khal Pressburg London. Throughout the gathering, organizers arranged accommodations, security, and meals for the many visitors, while numerous minyanim took place at the center adjoining the kever.
A new mikvah was also prepared at the center in connection with this year's yahrtzeit, providing an additional facility for visitors.
The highlight of the gathering was a Hachnasas Sefer Torah written l'illui nishmas the Chasam Sofer through the generosity of an anonymous donor dedicated to spreading his Torah.
The Sefer Torah was brought from Yerushalayim to Pressburg aboard a specially chartered flight before being welcomed in a festive procession to the Beis Medrash at the Chasam Sofer Center.
Hundreds of Bnei Torah, avreichim, and Rabbanim participated in the celebration, singing and dancing with the Sefer Torah along the promenade overlooking the Danube River before its arrival at the Beis Medrash.
Later, participants gathered for a seudas hilula together with a Siyum HaShas, marking the occasion with a celebration of Torah and the Chasam Sofer's legacy.
The gathering brought together Yidden from numerous communities and countries, united in honoring the memory of the Chasam Sofer and continuing their connection to his Torah.
