Senator Ted Cruz has defended U.S. financial assistance to Israel, calling the annual aid package “a bargain” for American taxpayers. Speaking on the strategic importance of the alliance, Cruz emphasized that the United States receives unparalleled intelligence from Israel’s Mossad—information that, he said, would cost “tens of billions of dollars” to generate independently.

Cruz argued that the partnership delivers far more than it costs, crediting Israel’s intelligence network and defense cooperation for bolstering American national security. “Every American should thank Israel for its vital security partnership,” he stated, underscoring the mutual benefits derived from decades of close military and intelligence collaboration.

The senator’s remarks highlight the enduring strength of U.S.-Israel security relations, which remain among the closest in the world. In 2025, the U.S. provides $3.8 billion in annual aid to Israel—funds that are required to be spent on American-made defense equipment. This arrangement not only enhances Israel’s defensive capabilities but also supports an estimated $1.2 billion in U.S. jobs and defense exports each year.

Supporters of the aid package argue that it ensures stability in a volatile region while reinforcing America’s defense industry and global influence. Critics, however, have questioned whether such spending remains necessary amid shifting global priorities. Still, Cruz’s remarks reflect the broader bipartisan consensus in Washington that sees Israel as an indispensable ally and intelligence partner in the Middle East.
