Congressman Mike Lawler visited the Ohel of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Queens on Tuesday, October 27, joining Chabad shluchim for a visit just days before the upcoming midterm election.

During the visit, Lawler met with members of the Chabad community and discussed the Rebbe’s teachings, including the importance of recognizing the value of every individual.

The congressman spent time davening at the Ohel, the resting place of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, before joining the accompanying shluchim for photographs.

Among those participating were Rabbi Shmuel Zalman Gantz, Rabbi Chaim Tzvi Ehrenreich, Rabbi Mendy Korf, Rabbi Avi Korer of Chabad of Putnam County, Rabbi Dovid Brawer of Cheder Chabad of Monsey, and Rabbi Motty Seligson of Chabad Headquarters.

According to reports of the visit, Lawler was also presented with a copy of Positive Bias, a book exploring the Rebbe’s teachings and his approach to viewing others with encouragement and optimism.

The visit took place amid the final days of campaigning ahead of the November 3 midterm election, in which Lawler is seeking another term representing New York’s 17th Congressional District.

Lawler has maintained relationships with Jewish communities throughout his district, which includes areas of Rockland and Westchester counties. During the visit, discussions also touched on concerns affecting Jewish communities, including antisemitism and community safety.

The Ohel, located in the Cambria Heights neighborhood of Queens, is visited throughout the year by people from around the world who come to daven and seek inspiration from the Rebbe’s teachings.
