๐จย ENDGAME DECLARED: Yemeni President Launches Full-Scale Houthi Offensive
Yemen just crossed a line it had been edging toward for months. In a televised address on Sunday, Saudi-backed President Rashad al-Alimi announced the launch of full-scale military operations on every front, declaring that his forces would push to liberate all remaining territory still under Houthi control. Al-Alimi said every opportunity for de-escalation had been exhausted, and he placed the country's military, security, and civilian institutions on full mobilization until what he called victory is achieved. It is the clearest signal yet that Yemen's government is done waiting and ready to fight for the whole country, not just defend what it already holds.
The declaration did not come out of nowhere. It followed a brutal 24 hours in which government forces claimed 257 precision strikes on Houthi positions, reportedly killing around 700 rebel fighters in a single day. Al-Alimi thanked Saudi Arabia for standing by Yemen through what he called its darkest hours and appealed to regional and international partners for further backing as the offensive expands. He was careful to frame the campaign as a fight against Houthi control rather than against the people of Sanaa or Saada, even offering amnesty to fighters willing to lay down their weapons. Still, with forces now being called to advance across multiple fronts at once, this marks one of the most dramatic escalations of Yemen's war in years.
