President Trump gave Elon Musk a public thank-you from the Oval Office for pledging to donate SpaceX stock to every child in America. "He's giving one share to each child, and it's going through Trump accounts," Trump said. Musk announced the pledge in an October 19 post on X, saying he would give one of his SpaceX shares to every kid in America next year. At SpaceX's recent share price of about $146, a gift to every American child would be worth roughly $10 billion or more.

Several details are still unsettled. Musk has not said how the shares would be delivered or whether they would go through Trump Accounts, the government-backed investment accounts for children, so Trump's description is his own account of the plan. Trump also said close to 80 million people have received accounts and that the number is "going up rapidly," while other reports have put the total at nearly 70 million. Asked about adults, he said officials are looking at "something different," a separate matter from the children's accounts, but he gave no details. Whether a version for adults appears, and how it would be funded, remains an open question.
