Wondrous Mofsim in Belz This Sukkos 5787
Two remarkable stories are currently making the rounds in Belz, highlighting the Rebbeโs extraordinary ruach hakodesh over the Yom Tov season.
The first incident involves a yungerman from chutz la'aretz who traveled to the Rebbe for Rosh Hashanah. In the middle of the night, feeling somewhat dejected, he expressed his frustration to his family. "I traveled all this way," he said, "but I haven't seen or heard the Rebbe at all. Does anyone even know I am here?"
The answer came on Motzei Rosh Hashanah. As the massive crowd of Chassidim passed by the Rebbe for gezegenen, the Rebbe suddenly grasped this specific yungermanโs hand and held onto it for several moments, sending a clear, unspoken message that his presence was indeed known and valued.
The second story took place during Sukkos. In Belz, there is a custom that individuals who share the name of the day's Ushpizin pass by the Rebbe. A bochur named Moshe Dovid had already gone by on the day of the Ushpizin of Moshe. His friend, Yechezkel, asked if he could have his zechus to pass by the Rebbe on the day of Dovid.
Moshe Dovid agreed, but on one condition: when Yechezkel passes by, he must quickly be mazkir Moshe Dovid's name and his mother's name for a bracha. When the time came, the line was moving at a rapid pace, making it seemingly impossible for Yechezkel to pause and speak. The Rebbe was looking down as the crowd quickly filed past. However, at the exact moment Yechezkel walked by, the Rebbe suddenly reached out and pulled him back, giving him the precise window of time he needed to be mazkir his friend.
