HaRav Yitzchok Ezrachi Arrives in South Africa for Week of Elul Chizuk
HaRav Yitzchok Ezrachi, Rosh Yeshiva of Mir Yerushalayim, arrived in South Africa this week for a series of chizuk gatherings with members of the country's Jewish communities ahead of the Yemei HaDin.
On Tuesday night, the Rosh Yeshiva addressed a gathering in Johannesburg, delivering words of hisorerus as communities enter the final weeks before Rosh Hashanah.
The visit is particularly notable given the Rosh Yeshiva's advanced age. HaRav Ezrachi, who was born in 1933 and has served among the senior leadership of the Mir for decades, traveled from Eretz Yisroel for the weeklong series of addresses. The Mir currently lists him among its senior Roshei Yeshiva.
The South African visit follows a series of Elul addresses delivered by HaRav Ezrachi in Eretz Yisroel. Last week, he spoke at Yeshivas Zichron Meir in Yerushalayim about yiras Shamayim and preparation for the Yemei HaDin, emphasizing that spiritual growth requires active effort rather than reliance on Torah learning alone.
Earlier in Elul, the Rosh Yeshiva similarly delivered a special address at the Beis Aryeh shul, calling on bnei Torah to respond to current challenges with increased Torah learning, yiras Shamayim and tefillah.
His Johannesburg appearance begins what the submitted report describes as a week of chizuk for Jews in South Africa, with additional gatherings expected during the visit.
