A potentially serious accident ended without tragedy Thursday morning after a school bus jumped the curb on Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights and crashed into a residential building.

The crash occurred shortly after 7:20 a.m. near Albany Avenue, when the westbound bus left the roadway and struck the facade of 869 Eastern Parkway.

B’chasdei Hashem, there were no children aboard the bus at the time of the crash, and no pedestrians were injured. The driver, who was alone on the bus, was evaluated following the collision.

Surveillance footage captured the frightening moment the bus mounted the sidewalk before crashing into the building.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene and evacuated the building as a precaution while the Department of Buildings was called to inspect the structure.

The crash occurred during the morning hours, when children are often outside waiting for school buses in the neighborhood. The location is also just a short distance from 770 Eastern Parkway, an area that sees particularly heavy pedestrian traffic during Tishrei.

Authorities are investigating what caused the crash.
