A man was taken into custody after a fire broke out in a Bronx apartment building on Wednesday night, August 13, injuring two firefighters.
The blaze was reported at around 8:16 p.m. on the fourth floor of 4130 Carpenter Avenue in the Wakefield neighborhood. Authorities say the 42-year-old man, believed to be an emotionally disturbed individual who had previously been evicted from the building, was apprehended at the scene after firefighters brought the flames under control.
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. No civilian injuries were reported. Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, and the man in custody has not yet been formally charged.
