Nevada State Senator Edgar Flores (D-NV) was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after being found asleep behind the wheel at a stoplight in Northeast Las Vegas.
According to Las Vegas Metro Police, officers discovered Flores slumped over in the driver’s seat of his Jeep Wrangler in the early morning hours of September 12. His vehicle was in drive, his keys were in the ignition, and his foot was resting on the brake.
Body camera footage shows officers attempting to wake him by flashing lights and trying to open the driver’s door. Flores did not respond until an officer knocked on his window, startling him awake.
The senator was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, though no further details about charges or court proceedings have yet been released. The incident has already sparked controversy, with questions emerging about accountability and public trust.
