The Israel Police Spokesperson’s Unit and the Israel Security Agency (ISA) announced the thwarting of a terror cell in northern Israel planning a shooting attack in Karmiel. In a joint operation conducted by the ISA and the Galilee Central Investigations Unit, four Israeli citizens—Ahmad Sarhan (19), Mohammed Khalil (18), and two minors—were arrested for questioning on suspicion of advancing terror-related activities.
Investigators revealed that the suspects conspired to carry out a shooting attack targeting soldiers in Karmiel. Some had received training and guidance in preparation for the assault. The Haifa District Attorney’s Office, represented by Attorney Sharon Edri, is expected to file indictments this morning.
Authorities described the case as severe and alarming, highlighting the threat posed by Israeli citizens engaging in activities endangering state security. The ISA and Israel Police stressed that they view such involvement with the utmost seriousness and will continue to act decisively to detect and prevent similar threats.
The incident reflects a rising pattern of homegrown terror plots among Israeli Arab youth, often fueled by online radicalization. The ISA reported multiple similar disruptions in late 2025 amid heightened regional tensions. Footage from the arrest, captured by the Israel Police’s National Guard, accompanies the announcement, demonstrating the operational coordination between security agencies in preventing attacks.
