A Russian drone strike on Monday, October 22, struck a private kindergarten in Kharkiv, Ukraine, killing three people and injuring several others, according to local officials.
Footage circulating online captured the moment the enemy UAV slammed into the building, causing a powerful explosion that shattered windows, set classrooms ablaze, and sent debris scattering across the playground.
Emergency responders and firefighters rushed to the scene, working to rescue victims and contain the flames as smoke poured from the damaged structure. Several of the injured were transported to nearby hospitals, with some reportedly in serious condition.
Local authorities condemned the attack as another example of Russia’s ongoing assault on civilian infrastructure, noting that the kindergarten had no military presence nearby.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov described the strike as “a direct hit on innocence,” vowing that Russia would be held accountable for its continued targeting of noncombatant sites.
The incident adds to a growing list of civilian casualties in eastern Ukraine, as Russian forces intensify their aerial assaults using drones and missiles on populated urban areas.
