Exiled Iranian opposition leader Reza Pahlavi has called on Iranians to transform this year’s Chaharshanbe Suri fire festival, celebrated on March 18, into a protest against the Islamic Republic. In his message, Pahlavi warned that the regime is once again attempting to block the ancient Persian festival and encouraged citizens to honor those who have died fighting for Iran’s national identity and freedom.

Pahlavi highlighted the symbolic meaning of the festival, stating that the fire represents light overcoming the darkness imposed by the regime. He urged Iranians both inside the country and abroad to participate in demonstrations, with those living overseas encouraged to gather outside Iranian embassies to send a clear message of resistance.

In addition to calling on the public to act, Pahlavi appealed to international leaders, including the U.S. President and Israel’s Prime Minister, to monitor developments closely and ensure that the regime does not violently suppress protestors. He framed the 2026 celebrations as the start of Iran’s “spring of freedom,” emphasizing that the festival should signal the people’s enduring resolve to reclaim their country.
