DeSantis Backs RFK: Fauci Was Never “The Science” — Media Created a Dystopia!

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis strongly defended Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for confronting CNN over its coverage of Dr. Anthony Fauci. DeSantis argued that legacy media elevated Fauci with informal authority, treating every recommendation as unquestionable science. He recalled Fauci’s own claim that “I am the science” and that disagreement with him meant disagreeing with science itself. The governor said this media-backed status allowed Fauci to push policies that went far beyond actual scientific evidence. DeSantis described the result as a damaging overreach that harmed communities across the country.

DeSantis challenged the idea that science required restaurants to close or schools to shut down indefinitely for a virus that posed little risk to healthy children. He pointed out that Fauci himself said in March 2020 that masks would not stop COVID, yet mask mandates were later imposed. The governor said newly discussed diaries and records confirm what he observed early in the pandemic. In his view, Fauci had begun believing his own elevated status. DeSantis argued the media’s veneration gave Fauci informal power to influence governors and mayors toward restrictive measures.

Those measures, according to DeSantis, produced severe negative effects on American society. Businesses suffered, individual liberties were curtailed, and children were kept out of classrooms for extended periods. He characterized a “Fauci Florida,” city, or state as a dystopia of economic damage and lost educational opportunities. DeSantis emphasized that Florida rejected that approach and prioritized keeping society functioning. His comments reinforce a broader critique of pandemic-era decision-making that many conservatives have long advanced.

The governor’s remarks align with ongoing efforts to reassess the COVID response and the role of public health officials and media. By supporting RFK Jr.’s criticism of CNN, DeSantis highlighted what he sees as a failure of institutional accountability. He made clear that future policy should never again grant unchecked informal authority to any single figure. The statement serves as both a defense of Florida’s pandemic strategy and a warning against repeating the same mistakes.
