Air France has released new video footage highlighting its ongoing installation of Starlink satellite internet across its aircraft fleet, signaling a major upgrade to in-flight connectivity for passengers. The airline confirmed that by the end of this year, approximately 30 percent of its aircraft will be equipped with the system, with full fleet coverage targeted by the end of 2026.
The video offers a behind-the-scenes look at how Starlink is integrated into commercial aircraft during routine maintenance. Technicians are shown mounting low-profile antennas onto the aircraft fuselage and carefully routing internal cabling through the cabin, a process designed to minimize downtime while maintaining strict aviation safety standards.
Air France operates a fleet of more than 250 aircraft, and the Starlink rollout is expected to provide complimentary high-speed WiFi across short-haul and long-haul routes. Early testing following the airline’s September rollout has reportedly delivered download speeds of up to 200 megabits per second, a significant improvement over traditional satellite-based in-flight internet systems.
The move reflects growing competition among global carriers to modernize passenger experience and meet rising expectations for seamless connectivity in the air. By adopting Starlink’s low-Earth orbit satellite network, Air France aims to deliver faster speeds, lower latency, and more reliable service, even on transcontinental and oceanic routes.
With 30 percent of the fleet set to be equipped by December 2025 and full deployment planned for 2026, Air France positions itself at the forefront of in-flight connectivity innovation, signaling a long-term commitment to digital modernization and customer convenience.
