IDF Exposes Massive Hezbollah Tunnel 6 Miles Inside Lebanon
The Israel Defense Forces announced the discovery of a major Hezbollah underground tunnel system in the area of Majdal Zoun, located more than six miles into Lebanese territory. According to the IDF, troops located a tunnel stretching roughly 650 feet in length, equipped with four separate launch shafts and twelve rooms used to store missiles and drones. Footage released alongside the announcement showed Israeli forces inside the tunnel network as they worked to clear and document the site.
The IDF said the operation resulted in more than 20 terrorists being neutralized, including over ten fighters identified as members of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Force, the group's specialized unit trained for cross-border infiltration operations. The depth of the tunnel's penetration into Lebanese territory, combined with its launch infrastructure and weapons storage capacity, points to a sophisticated and long-planned military buildup by Hezbollah well beyond the immediate border area. Israeli officials have repeatedly warned that Hezbollah has used the period since the start of the conflict to entrench tunnel networks and weapons caches throughout southern Lebanon.
The discovery adds to a growing list of underground Hezbollah infrastructure uncovered by Israeli forces during the campaign, reinforcing the military's assessment that the group built an extensive subterranean network designed to support both defensive operations and offensive strikes into northern Israel. The IDF has framed operations like this one as essential to dismantling Hezbollah's military capabilities and preventing future attacks, even as the broader ceasefire framework with Iran continues to unfold. Israeli officials say further operations targeting similar infrastructure are expected to continue.
