More than 100,000 demonstrators filled the streets of New York City on October 18, 2025, as part of the nationwide “No Kings” protests. Aerial footage from news helicopters showed massive crowds stretching across Times Square, waving signs and chanting slogans against what they describe as authoritarian tendencies in President Donald Trump’s administration.

The “No Kings” movement, organized through various activist coalitions, calls for the preservation of democratic institutions and the rejection of one-man rule. Protesters emphasized their message that “no leader should stand above the people,” echoing sentiments seen in similar rallies held across major U.S. cities.

Police reported largely peaceful demonstrations, though traffic disruptions and crowd control measures were in place throughout Manhattan. Organizers said the turnout exceeded expectations, calling it “a message of unity and resistance.”

The protests mark one of the largest coordinated demonstrations in the U.S. this year, signaling growing tensions between the administration and activist groups ahead of key policy debates in Congress.
