Federal immigration enforcement operations are once again drawing attention in Minnesota as deportation flights continue departing from Minneapolis, despite strong opposition from Governor Tim Walz. Newly surfaced footage appears to show individuals being transported in white vans to an airport tarmac, where they are escorted by federal agents onto waiting aircraft. The images highlight the ongoing presence and activity of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the region. These operations come amid renewed focus on federal immigration policy enforcement under the current administration.

The deportation flights follow the conclusion of Operation Metro Surge, a large-scale enforcement initiative that brought thousands of federal agents into the Minneapolis area and resulted in more than 4,000 arrests. While the operation officially ended months ago, its impact continues to be felt as removal proceedings move forward. Federal authorities maintain that such actions are necessary to uphold immigration law and ensure national security. The continuation of deportation flights suggests that enforcement priorities remain firmly in place.

Governor Tim Walz has been a vocal critic of these measures, arguing that aggressive enforcement actions risk damaging local communities and undermining trust between residents and authorities. He previously called for a rapid end to the surge and has continued to express concern over the humanitarian and social implications of large-scale deportations. The ongoing flights, despite his objections, underscore the tension between state leadership and federal immigration authorities. This divide reflects broader national debates over immigration policy and enforcement strategies.
