Central New York experienced a record-breaking lake-effect snowstorm on November 29, 2025, leaving travel difficult and disrupting local communities. Reports indicate up to 12 inches of snow fell in Baldwinsville, with even higher totals recorded in towns east of Syracuse.

The heavy, wet snow accumulated quickly, creating hazardous driving conditions on highways and local roads. Residents and commuters were urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel as plows worked to clear major routes.

According to Syracuse.com, this storm surpassed previous Thanksgiving snow totals in the region, marking one of the most significant late-November lake-effect events in recent memory. Local authorities emphasized that power outages and transportation delays could occur in areas with the heaviest snowfall.

Meteorologists noted that the combination of cold temperatures over the lakes and persistent wind patterns fueled the intense lake-effect bands, producing rapid snow accumulation in concentrated areas. As cleanup efforts continue, residents are being advised to prepare for continued winter weather and monitor updates from local emergency services.
