The Israel Defense Forces announced that ground troops operating in southern Lebanon have demolished multiple Hezbollah military sites, including weapons depots and anti-tank missile infrastructure used in attacks against Israel. The operation was carried out by soldiers from the 769th “Hiram” Regional Brigade and targeted facilities the military says posed a direct threat to Israeli communities near the northern border.
According to the IDF, forces identified and destroyed an anti-tank missile storage facility, a weapons depot, and a structure used to launch anti-tank missiles toward Israel. Israeli military footage released from the operation shows nighttime maneuvers followed by controlled explosions, confirming the dismantling of the sites. The army stated that the infrastructure was actively maintained and operational, underscoring Hezbollah’s continued presence and activity in the area.
The IDF emphasized that the destroyed sites constitute a “blatant violation” of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon, referring to the ceasefire framework that followed earlier rounds of fighting. Under the November 2024 arrangements, Hezbollah was required to withdraw its forces and weaponry north of the Litani River and refrain from reestablishing military infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
Israeli officials have repeatedly warned that Hezbollah’s entrenchment near the border represents an unacceptable security threat. The use of anti-tank missiles from southern Lebanon has been a persistent concern, particularly given the group’s long history of embedding weapons and launch sites within civilian areas while operating under the protection of Lebanon’s weak enforcement mechanisms.
The latest operation reflects Israel’s stated policy of enforcing red lines and preventing Hezbollah from rebuilding offensive capabilities in violation of ceasefire agreements. As cross-border incidents continue and tensions remain high, Israeli military leaders have made clear that any attempts by Hezbollah to rearm or threaten Israeli territory will be met with decisive action to protect Israel’s sovereignty and civilian population.
