A Mexican national with an outstanding burglary warrant was arrested in Los Angeles after reportedly taunting U.S. Border Patrol agents with a machete.

The incident occurred as Border Patrol agents were assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the area. According to officials, the man confronted agents while brandishing the weapon before fleeing the scene.

Facial recognition technology was used to confirm his identity and verify the active warrant. Agents later returned to the location, where a brief chase ensued before the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Authorities have not yet released the man’s name, but he is expected to face charges related to the confrontation as well as the outstanding burglary case.
