MIDDLE EAST — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet have confirmed the elimination of Mohammed Wishah, a senior commander of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), in an airstrike near the Lebanon-Syria border.

Wishah, who headed the group’s Military-Security Department in Syria, had taken over the position after the death of Shantal al-Al in Beirut in 2024. Israeli officials say the operation targeted Wishah due to his alleged role in orchestrating and facilitating terrorist operations against Israel.

The strike marks another high-profile blow to the PFLP’s leadership in the region, underscoring Israel’s ongoing campaign to neutralize militant commanders across multiple fronts.
