SANAA – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that it carried out airstrikes on Houthi-controlled energy infrastructure in Yemen, targeting facilities including the Haziz power station in Sanaa.

According to the IDF, the strikes were a direct response to repeated missile and drone attacks launched by Houthi forces against Israel in recent weeks. The Houthis, backed by Iran, have intensified their involvement in the regional conflict, expanding their operations beyond Yemen’s borders.

The attack on the Haziz power station is expected to worsen energy shortages in the Yemeni capital, already strained by years of war. Local reports suggest significant damage, though details on casualties remain unclear.

Israel stated that the operation was intended to disrupt Houthi military capabilities and deter further cross-border strikes. Military officials emphasized that they would continue to “defend Israel against all threats, regardless of origin.”

The incident highlights the growing regional dimensions of the conflict, with Yemen now becoming another focal point of military escalation tied to Israel’s ongoing battles with Iran-backed groups.

International observers have warned that the strikes could further destabilize the humanitarian situation in Yemen, where millions are already facing severe shortages of food, water, and electricity.
