FBI Director Kash Patel credited President Donald Trump’s strong backing of law enforcement for what he described as historically significant crime reductions across the United States, calling the results achieved in 2025 unprecedented in the bureau’s 117-year history. In a recent interview, Patel emphasized that even accomplishing a single one of the reported gains in a single year would normally be considered extraordinary.

“If you took just one of those stats and accomplished it in one year, it would be a monumental feat,” Patel said, adding that the results reflect President Trump’s clear commitment to empowering law enforcement and restoring public safety nationwide.

According to Patel, the FBI recorded a 20 percent nationwide drop in the murder rate, alongside a 210 percent increase in disrupted gang activity. He explained that the bureau’s aggressive posture against violent crime was driven by the deployment of 1,000 additional FBI agents last year, a move that more than doubled arrests of violent offenders. Patel confirmed plans to deploy another 1,000 agents, further expanding federal law enforcement capacity.

Patel also highlighted major progress in combating drug trafficking, particularly fentanyl. He stated that fentanyl seizures conducted under the Trump administration were equivalent to enough lethal doses to kill 140 million Americans, underscoring both the scale of the threat and the intensity of the federal response.

The FBI director framed these outcomes as the direct result of leadership that prioritizes law enforcement rather than undermining it. He contrasted the results with prior years of rising crime, arguing that clear political support, operational freedom, and accountability-driven enforcement produced measurable and rapid improvements in public safety.
