Israel’s defense technology firm Elbit Systems introduced its SkyStriker loitering munition on Tuesday, highlighting enhanced capabilities designed to deliver precision strikes at extended ranges. According to the company, SkyStriker can strike targets up to 100 kilometers away, operate for approximately two hours, carry a 5–10 kilogram payload, and employ electro-optical targeting for both day and night operations.

The announcement was accompanied by video footage demonstrating SkyStriker launches and its ability to accurately engage targets from mobile platforms in desert terrain. The system has been operational since 2018 and recently received a Block 4 upgrade, unveiled at the AUSA defense exposition in October 2025, which significantly improves autonomous navigation and targeting capabilities.

SkyStriker has gained international attention following its operational use by India in May 2025 during Operation Sindoor, where it successfully targeted Pakistani terror infrastructure. The system’s combination of endurance, precision, and autonomous operation has made it a prominent option in modern loitering munition platforms, appealing to militaries seeking flexible, long-range strike capabilities.

Elbit Systems emphasizes that SkyStriker’s modular design allows it to be launched from multiple platforms, including ground vehicles and small aircraft, while its lightweight warhead enables precision effects against tactical targets without causing excessive collateral damage. Its day-night electro-optical sensors and autonomous flight features provide operators with increased situational awareness and targeting flexibility.

The Block 4 upgrade, now fully integrated, marks a significant step in enhancing SkyStriker’s autonomy, enabling pre-programmed mission paths, real-time re-tasking, and advanced threat avoidance. Defense analysts note that the system’s combination of long endurance, precision payload, and operational flexibility positions it as a leading option in the growing field of loitering munitions.
