LONDON — A dangerous chase on the A12 ended in dramatic fashion after Metropolitan Police officers used a tactical crash to stop a reckless driver going the wrong way down the busy road.

According to the Met, the driver had refused to stop for police and attempted to escape by swerving through traffic, mounting the pavement, and even evading a stinger device./A police helicopter tracked the vehicle from above as officers on the ground coordinated the pursuit. The chase concluded when officers deployed tactical contact, deliberately colliding with the suspect’s car to bring it to a halt.

Dashcam and aerial footage of the incident shows the tense moments leading up to the stop. No serious injuries were reported.

The Metropolitan Police praised their officers for their “bravery and professionalism” during the dangerous intervention.
