EARTH-TO-MOON — In a bold and futuristic move, Ethos Space, a private aerospace and technology firm, has unveiled plans to build spaceports and AI data processing centers on the Moon. CEO Ross Centers discussed the vision live on ABC News, marking a significant moment in the evolution of commercial space infrastructure.
According to Centers, the company aims to develop a long-term lunar presence to support both scientific exploration and commercial data operations. The concept involves deploying high-powered AI-driven data centers on the Moon’s surface, where low temperatures and potential solar energy access could provide an efficient environment for high-performance computing.
“We’re not just going to space,” said Centers. “We’re creating the digital backbone for the next era of exploration, research, and planetary-scale computing.”
The spaceports would serve as launch and landing hubs for both robotic and potentially human missions, strategically designed to support lunar logistics and future travel beyond the Moon.
While still in its planning stages, Ethos Space is reportedly working with several international partners, private investors, and aerospace engineers to tackle the complex challenges of lunar construction, including radiation shielding, dust mitigation, and sustainable power supply.
Experts say that if realized, the project could revolutionize how we think about space-based infrastructure—positioning the Moon not just as a destination, but as a technological hub for Earth and beyond.
