The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has successfully bisected the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis, constructing a 15-kilometer corridor that has fractured Hamas’ east–west control in the region. The tactical operation, carried out by Combat Engineering Battalion 605 and supported by the elite Golani and Kfir Brigades, along with the Israeli Air Force, marks a major breakthrough in the ongoing military campaign against Hamas.
According to military sources, the corridor was secured following several days of intense fighting. IDF tanks, bulldozers, airstrikes, and elite sappers were deployed to clear the area, neutralize resistance, and uncover critical underground infrastructure.
The strategic maneuver is part of a broader campaign aimed at dismantling Hamas’ military capabilities across Gaza, following repeated attacks and provocations. The IDF emphasized that this corridor will continue to be a vital asset for operational movements and the safety of Israeli forces in the region.
