Newly released bodycam footage from New Mexico State Police shows that Harjinder Singh, a commercial truck driver later involved in a deadly Florida crash, had been pulled over just weeks earlier for speeding.
The July 3 traffic stop resulted in a citation, but Singh was allowed to continue driving. On August — weeks later — Singh’s truck was involved in a fatal crash in Florida, leaving three people dead.
Singh has since been charged with three counts of vehicular homicide under state law, along with multiple immigration violations. He has been denied bond on all charges and remains in custody at St. Lucie County Jail, according to Lt. Andrew Bolonka of the sheriff’s office.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also placed a hold on Singh, ensuring he cannot be released even if state-level conditions change.
The case is drawing national attention, sparking renewed debate over immigration enforcement and commercial trucking safety.
