מדינת ישראל געבט צוריק 15 גופים פאר די אראבער
Israel has transferred the bodies of 15 Gazans back to the Gaza Strip following the return of the remains of American-Israeli hostage Itay Chen, whose death was confirmed earlier this year. The exchange, carried out under the coordination of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and humanitarian intermediaries, marks a solemn and sensitive step in the ongoing humanitarian and diplomatic efforts amid the conflict.
Chen, a dual U.S.–Israeli citizen, was taken hostage by Hamas during the October 7 attacks that claimed the lives of more than 1,200 Israelis and saw hundreds abducted into Gaza. His remains were recovered and returned to Israel after months of negotiations and intelligence operations involving multiple agencies, including coordination with U.S. officials.
The Israeli government has stressed that the return of Chen’s body was a moral imperative — part of its unwavering commitment to bring every hostage home, whether living or deceased. In exchange, Israel authorized the transfer of 15 Gazan bodies, a move carried out with humanitarian oversight to ensure compliance with international norms.
Israeli officials emphasized that the exchange does not signify any political concession to Hamas, but rather reflects Israel’s deep respect for the sanctity of life and the duty to recover its fallen. “Israel will continue to act decisively to bring back every one of our people,” an IDF spokesperson said, noting that operations to locate other hostages and missing persons are ongoing.
This exchange underscores Israel’s moral strength and humanitarian restraint, even in the face of an enemy that has shown none. While Hamas continues to exploit human remains for propaganda and leverage, Israel’s actions reaffirm its commitment to dignity, accountability, and national honor — principles that have long guided its defense doctrine.
The return of Itay Chen’s remains serves as a painful reminder of the brutality unleashed on October 7, but also as a testament to Israel’s enduring resolve. For the Chen family and the nation at large, it closes one of many heartbreaking chapters in a war defined by courage, sacrifice, and the relentless pursuit of justice.
