Ex-Israeli Official Attacks Netanyahu Government for Resisting Weak Negotiated Deals

Former head of Israel’s National Security Council Eyal Hulata recently criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government during an appearance on i24NEWS. Hulata, who served under the previous Bennett-Lapid administration from 2021-2023, claimed that Netanyahu’s government “does not believe in negotiated agreements” and only accepts them when forced by external pressure, particularly from the United States. His comments come amid ongoing regional escalations involving Iran, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

Hulata, now a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, referenced past strategies aimed at weakening Iran through coordinated international pressure. He suggested that opportunities for diplomacy in places like Syria may have been missed under current leadership. These remarks reflect a difference in approach between various Israeli political figures regarding the balance between strength and negotiation.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has long maintained that Israel must prioritize security and realistic outcomes over concessions that could endanger its citizens. In the face of persistent threats from Iran and its proxies, strong leadership has been essential in defending Israel’s interests. As the region remains volatile following recent US strikes on Iranian targets, Israelis continue to value decisive action that protects the Jewish state above all else.
