An escaped prisoner was discovered hiding in the loft of his wife’s home after attempting to spring himself from custody using a fake bail letter. Junead Ahmed, 36, of Warley Road, Brentwood, was apprehended following the unusual escape attempt.

Ahmed admitted to conspiracy to escape lawful custody and was subsequently sentenced to three years and three months in prison. Authorities confirmed that the hoax bail letter had been used in a calculated effort to evade the justice system, but the swift police response ensured his recapture without incident.
