IDF’s Division 98 Intensifies Operations in Gaza, Targets Hamas Infrastructure

GAZA STRIP — The Israel Defense Forces’ elite Division 98 continues to lead targeted ground and air operations in the Gaza Strip, focusing on neutralizing terrorists and dismantling Hamas infrastructure as part of Israel’s broader military campaign.

According to military sources, Division 98 is operating in high-risk zones, leveraging precision strikes and coordinated ground maneuvers to eliminate threats and uncover key Hamas strongholds.

“The division is making significant progress in neutralizing terrorist operatives and uncovering weapons caches, tunnel shafts, and command centers,” the IDF said in a statement.

The ongoing mission is part of Israel’s strategic effort to dismantle Hamas' operational capabilities and restore long-term security to southern Israel. The division’s actions have included close-quarters combat, air-to-ground coordination, and engineering work to expose and destroy tunnels known as part of the Hamas "metro" system.

Officials say the campaign is being carried out with surgical precision to limit civilian harm, though the intensity of fighting continues to draw international attention.

Division 98, comprised of elite combat brigades and special units, is expected to remain engaged as the IDF advances deeper into areas previously controlled by Hamas.
