JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu sharply criticized nationwide protests calling for an immediate end to the war in Gaza, warning that halting the military campaign before Hamas is defeated would endanger Israel’s future.

“Those who today call for an end to the war without defeating Hamas are hardening its position, delaying the release of our hostages, and ensuring that the horrors of October 7 will repeat themselves,” Netanyahu said. “We will be condemned to fight an endless war if Hamas remains in power.”

The prime minister’s remarks came as demonstrations spread across Israel, with tens of thousands demanding a ceasefire and a deal to bring hostages home. Netanyahu dismissed the opposition as a movement willing to accept Hamas’s rule in Gaza, calling it “sick” and out of step with national security priorities.
