LAS VEGAS – Police in Las Vegas safely ended a dangerous pursuit by deploying a new tool known as the “Grappler.”
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), officers used the device to stop a suspect who had allegedly carjacked his ex-girlfriend. The chase unfolded on U.S. Route 95, where the Grappler’s tether-like net snared the vehicle’s rear axle, bringing it to a controlled stop.
Authorities said the maneuver ended the pursuit without major injuries or further risk to the public. The suspect was taken into custody following the incident.
The Grappler, which attaches to a police vehicle’s front bumper, is designed to disable fleeing cars without resorting to more dangerous tactics like high-speed collisions or gunfire.
