The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) conducted an airstrike on Hezbollah positions in Qennarit, southern Lebanon, following prior evacuation warnings to local residents. The strike, captured at dusk, reportedly ignited multi-story buildings and sent thick smoke plumes into the sky over residential areas.

Israeli authorities stated that the operation targeted rebuilt Hezbollah military infrastructure in the region, emphasizing that civilian populations were given advance notice to minimize casualties. The IDF maintains that these strikes are a direct response to violations of the November 2024 ceasefire, which required Hezbollah to withdraw north of the Litani River.

Since early January 2026, Israel reports having carried out over 37 strikes in southern Lebanon in response to alleged Hezbollah violations, including reconstruction of previously dismantled military sites.
