Severe flooding struck Hualien County, Taiwan, after Super Typhoon Ragasa unleashed torrential rains that caused a dam to overflow and collapse, sending water surging into nearby communities.
The sudden floods swept away cars and residents, leaving widespread devastation. Authorities confirmed that several people were injured in the disaster, while more than 7,000 residents were evacuated to safety.
Emergency crews rushed to rescue stranded families and establish temporary shelters as entire neighborhoods were inundated. Officials warned that continued heavy rainfall could worsen conditions and complicate recovery operations.
The dam collapse underscores the destructive force of Typhoon Ragasa, which has already battered large parts of Taiwan with violent winds, landslides, and severe flooding. Government agencies remain on high alert as relief efforts continue.
